Windows Live Messenger 2009 is not responding error windows xp

In Windows XP while trying to open windows Live Messenger 2009 or earlier you will get an error saying that Windows Live Messenger is not Responding and that it has to be closed.

After reading the steps listed on the Windows Live support page:!8B3F39C76A8B853F!15940.entry
The option that worked for me was to uninstall Adobe flash player and Adobe shockwave player and then reinstall them.
You can do this by going to the Control Panel ,Add/Remove programs and uninstall them from there.
Or you can use the uninstall tool:
Then install the latest version from and Messenger should work.
